LIFE CADETS is The Children's Home residential program that gives children between the ages of 6 and 18 "an opportunity for a future" on our beautiful campus, which includes a newly constructed dining hall and gym. The Life Cadets Program helps young people become Physically Fit, Mentally Disciplined, Emotionally Stable, and Spiritually Strong.

At the present time we have two cottages for boys and one for girls. The dining hall facility includes a home theatre, school room with computers, family counseling center and is situated in a lovely setting with a deck overlooking a small lake.

The child who functions best in our program has an IQ above 70 and has the potential to benefit from a structured and supportive family-style environment. Each child receives tutoring three afternoons each week during the school year and on-campus counseling year round. The campus is closed the second weekend of each month and for the Christmas holidays.

In order to refer a child to Raintree, please call  Edward Sanders, LMSW at 229-559-5944.

Homes with A Heart: Families who are willing to open their homes and their hearts to neglected /abused children ages infant to 18 receive 30 hours of MAPP training before being approved.  Raintree first offered MAPP training in the Fall of 1997 and again in the Summer of 1999. The second class was a collaborative effort between Raintree and Echols DFCS. Already these families have provided care for 7 children resulting in the adoption of a two-year-old boy.

Adoption Services: As a licensed adoption agency couples who are childless are able to apply to adopt a child as young as an infant. Foster families are given the first opportunity to adopt foster children who become free for adoption. Also families from the community, who have identified a child to adopt, but need a Home Study completed, may purchase services (the Home Study and post-placement supervision) from Raintree.

Pathfinders in-Home Counseling Services': Masters level counselors provide an intensive, hands-on family preservation service in order to prevent the unnecessary placement of children outside the family of origin. The service involves a family counselor and a Pathfinder providing family therapy and parenting services in the setting of the family home. The Pathfinders Assessment Center under development is being planned to provide a comprehensive assessment program in collaboration with other local public and private agencies and service providers under the auspices of the First Placement/Best Placement initiative.

Individual & Family Therapy: Dr. G. R. Holton, the CEO of Raintree since 1980, holds a Doctoral Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Florida State University. He is experienced as a Family Therapist, Childcare Administrator, and lecturer on family relations.

Raintree Village is licensed by the State of Georgia as a Child Placing Agency for Basic Residential Child Care, Family Foster Home Care, and Adoptive Services.
