Services

Raintree Village offers many services for the development of our youth. We offer family reunification retreats and visitation, group homes for our children 6-18 years, additional watchful oversight (AWO) for our girls with highly specialized behavioral challenges, and second chance homes for our teen mothers and their babies.

Family Reunification

Raintree Village's goal is family reunification, if at all possible. Two specific programs are used to accomplish this mission.

First, Raintree Village offers Family Reunification Retreats on the first Saturday of every month. Held on the beautiful campus of Raintree Village, this program offers supervised family visitations, planned training modules, family togetherness, and fun, including fishing, a cook out, and one on one interaction.

Second, Raintree Village serves as a Community Supervised Family Visitation Center for the Department of Family and Children's Services. Open two evenings a week and one Saturday per month, this center provides a child-friendly, non-threatening, healthy and accessible environment in which court-sanctioned supervised visitations can take place between families and children in state custody. This service preserves the familial bond, while ensuring closely monitored visitations. Transportation is available for both services.

Group Homes

Raintree Village has served the needs of children and youth for over 40 years in a residential group home setting. Today, services have been expanded to include children and their families, on and off campus. However, Raintree Village continues to serve children and youth who need basic residential services through our Group Homes.

The PALMS cottage houses boys and/or girls ages 6 to 18 years, with emphasis on sibling groups. This cottage is supervised by a full-time live-in supervisor with ten years child care experience with Raintree Village. Up to fourteen girls and/or boys live in this home. Here they receive structure, empowerment, protection, and love, all in a culturally competent, family focused environment.

The TALL PINES cottage houses girls ages 6 to 18 years, with emphasis on sibling groups.  More on the particulars of this cottage can be found under the AWO Heading below.

Outcomes include a decrease in CAFAS scores, and an increase in overall grade averages from the 1st nine weeks grading period to the 4th.

Additional Watchful Oversight

Raintree Village provides Additional Watchful Oversight (AWO) as a service to girls (ages 12 to 18 years) with highly specialized behavioral challenges.

The Tall Pines cottage (AWO designation) houses up to eight girls with "around the clock" supervision. Three shifts per day provide constant care, supervision, and training in a child centered, culturally competent, nurturing environment.

Shifts include: 7am to 3pm; 3pm to 11pm; and 11pm to 7am. Supervisors receive annual training in CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Universal Precautions (such as bloodborne pathogens), Cultural Awareness, Privacy and Confidentiality Issues, Common Sense Parenting, and the Raintree Village "Acceptable Behavior Choices" curriculum.

This program seeks to follow an outcomes/results-oriented approach to child care whereby performance and quality improvement is the goal. Client's progress is tracked using periodic CAFAS testing and cumulative grade averages from one grading period to the next. Tutoring labs, with one-on-one instruction, are scheduled weekly for every young lady in the program. Professional counseling is provided on a regular basis for those with such needs.

Second Chance Homes

Raintree Village's Magnolias Second Chance Home is a home dedicated to five teen mothers and their babies, while the Live Oaks Second Chance Home is home to four teen mothers and their babies.  This program seeks to be child centered and family focused empowering young mothers with life and parenting skills, while affirming the self worth of each individual. Our aim is to provide a safe, strengths based environment for both mother and child to grow and thrive! Teen mothers are trained using the "Parents As Teachers" curriculum, as well as, learning life skills using the "Ansell-Casey Life Skills" curriculum. This community based program seeks positive results by using an evidenced based approach. Teen mothers are supervised and trained by "life coaches" who seek to build lasting relationships through daily interaction.

Youth Development

Raintree Village offers a wide range of youth development programs including a Transitional Living Program for teen girls and an Independent Living Program for teen boys and teen girls. Both community based programs teach teens how to be independent using two highly acclaimed training modules: "Parents as Teachers" and "Ansell-Casey Life Skills". Both programs seek to be egalitarian and flexible, while providing comprehensive services and holistic care.

The Transitional Living Program is housed in the Cyprus Cottage, and is for teen girls ages 19 to 21 years. Using "life coaches"  as mentors, supervisors and trainers, the TLP focuses on education, employment, and basic life skills training. Teen girls in this program must attend school full-time, work full-time or a combination of the two.

The Independent Living Program seeks to serve teen boys and girls ages 14 to 17, by training in basic life skills. This is an evidence based and strength based program empowering teens, while fostering a sense of personal efficacy that encourages youth to want to effect changes in their lives.
