Additional Watchful Oversight

Raintree Village provides Additional Watchful Oversight (AWO) as a service to girls (ages 12 to 18 years) with highly specialized behavioral challenges.

The Tall Pines cottage (AWO designation) houses up to eight girls with "around the clock" supervision. Three shifts per day provide constant care, supervision, and training in a child centered, culturally competent, nurturing environment.

Shifts include: 7am to 3pm; 3pm to 11pm; and 11pm to 7am. Supervisors receive annual training in CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Universal Precautions (such as bloodborne pathogens), Cultural Awareness, Privacy and Confidentiality Issues, Common Sense Parenting, and the Raintree Village "Acceptable Behavior Choices" curriculum.

This program seeks to follow an outcomes/results-oriented approach to child care whereby performance and quality improvement is the goal. Client's progress is tracked using periodic CAFAS testing and cumulative grade averages from one grading period to the next. Tutoring labs, with one-on-one instruction, are scheduled weekly for every young lady in the program. Professional counseling is provided on a regular basis for those with such needs.
